I am a PhD Candidate in Political Science at American University in Washington, DC. I study LGBTQ+ politics, public opinion, political psychology, social media, prejudice reduction and attitude change.
I examine public opinion toward marginalized groups, with a particular focus on how opinions toward transgender people are formed, when attitudes change and how prejudice against transgender people can be reduced.
I also analyze political attitudes of LGBTQ+ individuals, policy responsiveness to LGBTQ+ public opinion, and the political consequences of politicians’ outreach to LGBTQ+ communities. I can be reached via zp9382a@american.edu.
Now You See Me: Social Media and Opinion Change Toward Transgender People and Rights
My dissertation project investigates how social media shapes public opinion toward transgender people and transgender rights. The project examines the role of social influence and media exposure in shaping warmth toward transgender people, reducing transphobia, and increasing support for transgender rights.
I received my M.A in Political Science from University of California, Riverside in 2022, and B.A in Political Science from Oregon State University in 2020.
I am also a music composer and classical guitarist. I compose guitar solos, chamber works, and orchestral music using both a MIDI keyboard and guitar, drawing inspiration from classical repertoire, film soundtracks, and personal experiences. Music is one way I express emotions and life’s ups and downs. Several of my guitar compositions have been performed in concert programs at the American Guitar Society, Riverside City College, University of Redlands, and Norco College. Some of my compositions can be found here.
I also enjoy fashion and makeup, and probably spend too much time figuring out what to wear the next day.
